Training Sessions

Dragonboating is a water sport and you can expect to get damp at times.  Bring to training:

  • a change of clothes.
  • hat/beanie.
  • sunglasses with securing strap.
  • water bottle - no glass.
  • sunscreen.
  • old shoes or boat shoes.

There are showers at the Southern Cross Yacht Club for use after training.

Have a Go for Free

Not sure if dragonboating is your thing?  Is it really as much fun as everyone says it is?  Well wonder no longer!  The Griffins will provide you with all the fun and paddling you can handle with our 3 free training sessions.  We provide all the following:

  • a boat
  • a paddle
  • a crew
  • a sweep
  • did we mention fun.

So come on down to a training session, introduce yourself and we'll take it from there.

If you would like more information you can call 0417 409 809 and talk to a Canberra Griffins member.

Safety

There are personal floatation devices (PFD or life jacket) available for those who cannot swim 50m fully clothed.

Paddlers who are suffering or receive an injury need to inform the coach or executive staff.

And last but not least......

Training goes ahead regardless of the weather.

The Griffins in the name of social bonding like to go to the club for an after training cleansing and refreshing drink.  All paddlers are welcome to join us there.
